Iron County is considering a major rezoning proposal for around 123 acres of agricultural land just outside Cedar City, Utah.
Vanhurst Real Estate seeks to shift the area from agricultural to industrial zoning, potentially paving the way for both light and general industrial projects.
Brett Hamilton, Iron County’s planner, explained that this land sits within a growth-focused zone, reflecting the area’s expansion near Cedar City.
While light industrial zoning would limit certain intensive activities, heavier uses would be directed to specifically zoned sections.
Some residents are concerned about losing farmland and the effects of new industry on their community.
Hamilton stressed the importance of public feedback, noting community voices help guide decisions on land use and infrastructure.
Public hearings are planned for February 5 and February 9, offering locals a chance to share their perspectives on the proposed changes. Read More... |
