The Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA) is bringing film and media arts to the forefront this winter, strengthening its reputation as a vibrant center for contemporary creativity in Southern Utah.
Highlighting this season is the 2025 Filmmaking, Art & Design Faculty Exhibition, running from October 18, 2025, to March 7, 2026.
This biennial event showcases the talents of 17 faculty artists, spanning mediums from printmaking to immersive installations.
It’s a celebration of SUU’s faculty, whose achievements resonate on regional, national, and international levels.
SUMA also encourages community conversation about visual culture, especially as winter invites reflection and creative renewal.

Cedar City, Utah celebrated as the Southern Utah Thunderbirds secured an 84-70 win over Utah Valley, marking their third straight success in Western Athletic Conference action.

Luke Barnes, a junior at Southern Utah University and Cedar City native, captured his first Utah Golf Association Player Performance Ranking victory at the 2026 Hurricane City Amateur.
The two-day event at Sky Mountain Golf Course challenged competitors with frigid temperatures and gusty winds, demanding resilience and tactical skill.
Barnes led wire-to-wire, shooting an opening round 68 and closing with a 72 for a 140 total.
Despite trouble on the par-3 12th, where his tee shot landed in water, he saved par with a composed up-and-down, maintaining both composure and the lead.
As conditions worsened, Barnes leaned on his short game, calmly sinking putts inside ten feet and playing conservatively.
He secured a final par on 18, edging out St. George Amateur winner Brock Porter by one stroke.

Ryan Paul, assistant professor at Southern Utah University, has received the Utah Historical Society's Outstanding Achievement Award for his impactful work in public history and education.
