Trivia Question❓

Southern Utah is home to many national parks and stunning landscapes, but do you know the name of the famous formation in Zion National Park that is often referred to as the "most photographed rock in the world"?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Cedar City will hold its annual Wreaths Across America ceremony on Saturday, December 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cedar City Municipal Cemetery.

This year’s event honors John Richard "Dick" Reed, a 102-year-old World War II veteran and Iron County’s oldest living veteran, with a commemorative medallion.

Reed, who served as a cook and aided Auschwitz survivors, stresses the importance of teaching wartime history to young people.

The ceremony will feature 1,416 live balsam wreaths placed on veterans’ graves, a missing man flyover, music, and remarks from Mayor Garth Green in one of his final appearances.

Volunteers are invited to help lay wreaths, with traditions of honoring each veteran by name.

Additional wreaths will be laid at Veterans Memorial Park, the Paiute Tribe of Utah’s memorial, and the new Southern Utah National Veterans Cemetery, reflecting the area’s growing respect for its heroes.

Joke Of The Day

Why do dads take an extra pair of socks when they go golfing?

In case they get a hole in one!

On December 13, 2025, over 100 children in Cedar City delighted in the annual Shop with a Cop event, starting their day with a cheerful breakfast at Canyon View Middle School alongside local first responders.

After breakfast, excitement soared during a lights-and-sirens procession to Walmart, where each child received a $200 gift card—an increase over previous years—to choose special gifts for themselves and their families.

Community generosity shone brightly, with local businesses, donors, and the Elks Lodge—which provided shoe vouchers—coming together to support the program.

Volunteers, including retired officers, helped wrap gifts and ensured the festivities ran smoothly.

This cherished tradition not only provides presents but also strengthens bonds between youth and first responders, highlighting Cedar City’s deep spirit of unity and care during the holiday season.
