Washington and Iron counties are leading Utah’s job market, posting growth rates far above the state average.

In July 2025, Washington County saw employment jump by 4.8% to 90,000 jobs, while Iron County recorded an impressive 6.3% gain, reaching 26,000 jobs.

These numbers outpace the statewide nonfarm employment growth of just 2.3%.

According to chief economist Ben Crabb, the strong job gains reflect robust employer confidence and the local economy’s resilience.

Washington County’s combination of strategic location and access to Western markets is drawing new industries and fueling expansion.

Meanwhile, Iron County’s Iron Springs Inland Port Project is transforming the region by upgrading transportation and supporting business growth.

With ongoing investments and business attraction, Southern Utah looks set to sustain its rapid job growth and continue strengthening Utah’s economy.
