Joke Of The Day

Why was the math book sad?

Because it had too many problems.

Southern Utah University faculty have launched the T-Bird Strong Student Emergency Fund to support students facing unexpected financial crises.

The initiative provides immediate assistance for emergencies such as housing, food insecurity, and urgent technology needs.

Donations from the community help eliminate financial barriers that could disrupt a student's academic path.

Recent campaigns have demonstrated the fund’s impact, with over $2,200 raised from 26 donors in the 2024 Giving Thor’s-Day event and $1,214 from seven donors in 2025.

These contributions have given crucial relief to students during times of crisis, highlighting SUU’s dedication to nurturing a supportive campus environment.

Faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to participate, ensuring every student has the chance to succeed without the shadow of financial hardship.

Cedar City marked a milestone on November 4, 2025, celebrating the near-completion of the Eightmile Hills water storage tank with music and community pride.

This $6 million project, located west of Iron Springs Road, is poised to be Cedar Valley’s largest, holding up to 4 million gallons.

Residents gathered inside the echoing tank for performances, while Paul Monroe, General Manager of the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District, stressed the tank's value in strengthening local water infrastructure amid ongoing drought concerns.

The tank is part of the broader Water Infrastructure Improvement Project, including new waterlines and additional wells, aiming to enhance water reliability.

Collaboration with Building Zone Industries reflects successful public-private partnerships, as emphasized by Councilman Tyler Melling, who highlighted the expanded ability to share infrastructure with neighboring cities.

The Eightmile Hills tank stands as a symbol of progress toward Cedar City’s goal of a sustainable, secure water future for all residents.
