Southern Utah University faculty launch emergency fund to support students facing unexpected financial hardships |
Southern Utah University faculty have established the T-Bird Strong Student Emergency Fund to assist students encountering unforeseen financial challenges.
Recognizing that unexpected expenses can jeopardize a student's academic journey, the fund aims to provide immediate relief for those in need.
Contributions to the fund support various needs, including emergency housing, food insecurity, and urgent technology requirements.
By donating, community members can help ensure that financial obstacles do not hinder students' educational pursuits.
In recent years, the T-Bird Strong Fund has been a vital resource for students.
For instance, during the 2024 Giving Thor's-Day campaign, the fund raised over $2,200 from 26 donors, providing essential support to numerous students.
Similarly, in the 2025 campaign, the fund garnered $1,214 from seven donors, continuing its mission to assist students in crisis.
These efforts underscore the university's commitment to fostering a supportive environment where students can thrive academically without the burden of financial stress.
Faculty and staff at SUU are encouraged to contribute to the T-Bird Strong Fund, reinforcing the community's dedication to student success.
By working together, the SUU community can ensure that all students have the resources they need to overcome financial hardships and achieve their educational goals. |
