SUU Ballroom Dance Company Presents 'Dancing in the Moonlight' Fall 2025 Showcase

An Evening of Elegance and Rhythm Under the Stars

The Southern Utah University Ballroom Dance Company is set to dazzle audiences with its Fall 2025 Showcase, 'Dancing in the Moonlight', on November 7 and 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the SUU Auditorium Theatre.

Tickets are priced at $10 and can be purchased at the door, which opens at 6:30 p.m.

For those unable to attend in person, the November 7 performance will be livestreamed on YouTube by SUTV.

This showcase marks the debut of new co-directors Sami and Gage Kevern, who assumed leadership of the SUU Ballroom Dance Company in August.

The couple brings a combined 40 years of ballroom experience and a deep personal connection to both the art form and SUU.

“Ballroom dance and, specifically, this company mean more to us than we can put in words,” said co-director Sami Kevern.

“They hold a very special place in our hearts as that’s what brought us together, through a lifelong passion that we both share and now get to venture on together.”

Sami began her dance journey at age five, competing nationally in events such as The Gem State Classic and BYU’s Dancesport Championship.

Gage started dancing at six under World Champion Andrea Hale, earning state and national accolades over an 11-year career.

The two met as members of the SUU Ballroom Dance Company in 2019, becoming both dance and life partners.

After graduating, they founded Cedar City Ballroom to bring ballroom dance education and performance opportunities to dancers of all ages in the community.

'Dancing in the Moonlight' will feature performances from the SUU Ballroom Dance Company’s Tour Team, Intermediate Team, and Beginning Team.

Audiences can expect a diverse program including Latin Fusion, Waltz, Samba, Jive, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Cabaret, Latin Medley, Cha Cha, Lindy Hop, Paso Doble, and Rumba, each set to fun, energetic, and current music selections.

Adding to the evening’s celebration of movement and culture, guest performances will be presented by The Point Dance Studio, the SUU Dance Team, the Indigenous Student Union, and the Pacific Islander Student Association.

“This semester has felt like the start of a new era in many ways,” said Kevern.

“You will see a lot of new faces on stage tonight, and we are so excited to welcome all of them to SUU and our ballroom family.”

'Dancing in the Moonlight' is proudly sponsored by the Historic Downtown Cedar City Holiday Lighting Ceremony, Cedar City Children’s Musical Theatre, Purely Inked Tattoos, The Community Nutcracker, and IMPAC Theatre Company.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan or experiencing the SUU Ballroom Dance Company for the first time, this fall showcase promises an evening of rhythm, elegance, and joy under the glow of 'Dancing in the Moonlight'.
