Ski with a Ranger Program Returns to Brian Head Resort

Free Tours Offer Insights into Forest Health and Local Geology

Brian Head Resort is excited to announce the return of the popular Ski with a Ranger program, offering guests a unique opportunity to explore the mountain's natural wonders.

In collaboration with the Dixie National Forest, these complimentary on-mountain tours are scheduled for the second Friday of each month from January 9 through April 10, 2026, with an additional session on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Participants will meet at 1 p.m. at the base of the Giant Steps Express Lift for a guided experience lasting approximately one hour, weather permitting.

This year's program focuses on the impact of pine beetle infestations and overall forest health within Brian Head Resort and the surrounding Dixie National Forest.

Rangers will discuss the development of beetle outbreaks, the importance of proactive thinning and replanting to reduce wildfire risks, and how maintaining healthy forests enhances the skiing environment.

Additionally, the tours will delve into the area's unique geology, highlighting how volcanic activity has shaped the region's distinctive terrain.

On Friday, March 13, the program will host a special youth-focused event at the Navajo base area, featuring an appearance by Smokey Bear. Please note, this event will not include an on-mountain tour but will offer engaging activities for younger guests.

Details for the program are as follows:

When: Second Friday of each month: January 9, February 13, March 13 (Navajo base area; youth-focused), April 10, plus Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Where: Base of the Giant Steps Express Lift at 1 p.m. (except March 13 at the Navajo base area).

Duration: Approximately one hour, weather and conditions permitting.

How: No reservations required. Participants must be intermediate-level skiers or snowboarders and possess a lift ticket or season pass. Attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Prior to the skiing portion, guests can engage with Dixie National Forest staff at the Giant Steps base area from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to learn more about forest health, local geology, and the history of Brian Head Resort.

Brian Head Resort is open daily through May 10, 2026, conditions permitting. For the latest news and events, please visit the resort's official channels.

Embrace this unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of the natural environment while enjoying the slopes at Brian Head Resort.
