Jenkins Oil Celebrates 50 Years with New RallyStop Opening in Cedar City

Third-generation family business expands with 18th location on west side

A Cedar City business institution is celebrating a major milestone. Jenkins Oil Company marks 50 years of serving Southern Utah communities this year while preparing to open a brand-new RallyStop market west of Cedar City.

The new location represents the 18th RallyStop store and the second market in the Cedar City area for the third-generation family-run company.

"There's a personal aspect that comes with working with a family-run company instead of a large corporation," said Kurtis Maxwell, RallyStop general manager. "With Jenkins Oil, customers have access to nearly anyone in the company."

The company was founded in 1976 by Ron Jenkins, who left his job as a Salt Lake County sheriff to pursue the opportunity.

"It started as one truck, one guy," said marketing manager Johnny Jenkins, Ron's grandson. "He would take the orders, drive the truck and deliver them. A real one-man show."

Ron Jenkins never returned to law enforcement after taking a one-year leave to launch the business. The company grew steadily through the 1980s and 1990s, adding fuel brands including Sinclair, Texaco, Chevron, and Shell.

As the only locally owned oil distributorship in Southern Utah, Jenkins Oil takes pride in supporting the communities it serves. The company sponsors local high school athletics, Little League programs, and rodeos throughout the region.

Eric Jenkins, the company's vice president, recalled sponsoring beverages at a local track meet where eight schools the company had previously supported were all competing.

"We try to be a real partner in each of these small communities," he said. RallyStop also offers scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing careers in technical trades.

The newest RallyStop will be located west of Cedar City along State Route 56 near the Iron Springs Road turnoff.

The store will offer fuel, hot food, groceries, fresh produce, and in-house meat cut options. A soft opening is scheduled for April 10th, with a grand opening planned for May 1st.

RallyStop has grown to become a regional presence, adding approximately two new stores each year over the past decade.

The company focuses on quality performance fuels and well-stocked stores that serve the whole family. From top-notch restrooms to friendly service, RallyStop aims to bring a hometown feel to every location.

That commitment to local service reflects the family values that have guided the company for five decades.

More information about the new Cedar City location and grand opening events will be announced in the coming weeks. For locations, Rally Rewards, career opportunities, and more information, visit ralleystopstores.com
