Iron County developer launches fundraiser to support local arts education for students

A donation-matching campaign with the goal of bringing more arts educations to elementary schools in the area

Temple View Commons, a developer in Iron County, has initiated a donation-matching campaign to bolster arts education in local elementary schools.

They are matching community contributions up to $2,700, aiming to enhance the availability of art supplies and programs for young students.

Shauna Lund, communications director for the Iron County School District (ICSD), highlighted the significance of this initiative.

She noted that art materials are consumable items that require constant replenishment, which can be a financial burden.

This fundraiser seeks to alleviate that strain, ensuring teachers have the resources needed for unique and engaging art projects.

While ICSD allocates funds for art programs and actively pursues grants, resources remain limited.

The support from Temple View Commons is a welcome addition to these efforts.

They are relatively new to Cedar City and Iron County and have expressed a keen interest in supporting local schools, particularly in the arts, recognizing the connection between building and artistic expression.

If the fundraiser reaches its $2,700 goal, with matching contributions from Temple View Commons, each elementary school teacher could receive $600 for art education.

Such funding is crucial, as art education fosters critical thinking, exploration, and imagination, which are integral to overall learning and development.

The fundraiser is scheduled to run from March 30 to April 13.

Community members interested in contributing can find more information on the ICSD website.

In related news, South Elementary recently organized a Color Run fundraiser to support their art programs.

Additionally, the Iron County School District is considering a new policy for fundraising, donations, gifts, and sponsorships to ensure responsible use of contributions.

These efforts underscore the community's commitment to enhancing arts education for its students.
