Cross Country Results: Cedar City High School Girls Take Top Honors |
Local high school athletes continue to shine on the trail |

Cross country results are fueling excitement across Cedar City as local high school athletes continue to shine on the trail.
The latest meet brought a surge of pride, especially for the girls varsity cross country runners representing Cedar High School.
The recent Timpanogos XC Invitational in Orem served up fierce competition from across the state, but Cedar girls grabbed the spotlight by clinching the top spot in the afternoon session.
According to meet attendees, the energy was palpable as every stride carried the hopes of family and teammates lining the course.
Leading the charge for Cedar was Eliza Johnson, whose performance stood out among dozens of athletes and set the standard for the day.
Springville and Crimson Cliffs rounded out the top three in the team rankings, but the Redmen refused to let the pressure rattle them.
Sixteen schools competed in the afternoon girls varsity race, confirming the event's growing regional prestige every year.
The boys varsity contest also drew plenty of attention, with Region 9 schools landing three teams among the top six finishers—a strong sign of competitive balance in Southern Utah.
The ability for smaller schools to challenge perennial powerhouses reveals a shifting tide in high school cross country.
Team camaraderie and sheer determination were on display as every runner pushed for a personal best.
Not to be overlooked, the morning section of the Timpanogos Invitational saw Canyon View and Desert Hills making Southern Utah proud with impressive placements among 38 girls teams.
The community continues to rally around these athletes, with excitement building as local runners prepare for the Dixie All-Comers meet at Bloomington Hills North Park in St. George.
The event promises more unforgettable moments and another chance for fresh cross country results to stir local pride. |

Sixteen schools and Cedar comes out on top. Cannot wait to see what they do at state this year.
Is there a way to follow the live results for the Dixie meet online or do you just have to be there in person?
These kids wake up early every morning and put in miles before school even starts. They deserve every bit of this recognition.
Cindy OlsenMy daughter runs for a different school and yeah, the early morning grind is real. These kids sacrifice a lot more than people realize.
Bloomington Hills North Park is a beautiful spot for a race. Anyone who has not been out there should go watch the All-Comers meet.
My friend coached at Springville for years and she texted me after the race saying Cedar totally deserved that win. Speaks volumes.
Cross country does not get enough attention compared to football. Glad to see some coverage of these kids finally.
Todd B.Completely agree. These kids log more miles in a week than most adults do in a month. About time they get a little spotlight.
Desert Hills in the morning session too, this whole region is just stacked with talented runners right now. Love to see it.
Hope the boys can keep building on this at the next meet. Three in the top six is good but they can do even better.
The amount of family and community that shows up to these meets is what makes Cedar City special. Such a supportive town.
Heidi W.Grew up here and it has always been like that. People show up for each other. Sports, school plays, you name it.
Crimson Cliffs in the top three too. St. George area cross country is on a different level right now.
Ron PetersenCrimson Cliffs has really come a long way fast. That program has built something solid over the last couple years for sure.
Went to Cedar High and this made my whole morning when I saw the results. So happy for these girls.
ashley_cedarSame! I graduated from Cedar a while back and still follow the programs. Mornings like that remind me why I love this town.
The Timpanogos Invitational keeps getting bigger every year. Good to see Cedar representing Southern Utah at the top level.
Mark FifeIt really has grown. I remember when it was a much smaller field. 16 teams in just the afternoon session is no joke.
Eliza Johnson has been training like crazy this offseason. This result is no surprise to anyone who knows her.
Patrice G.Exactly. She was putting in serious miles all summer. Saw her out on the trail by the college almost every day. Kid is dedicated.
Does anyone know what time the Dixie All-Comers meet starts? Would love to take my kids out to watch.
Smaller schools competing with the powerhouses is exactly what makes high school sports worth watching. Love this trend.
My nephew runs for one of the other Region 9 schools and even he was rooting for Cedar after watching them race. Good sportsmanship all around.
Bloomington Hills North Park is such a fast course. The Dixie All-Comers meet is going to be a great one to watch.
I used to run cross country at Cedar High back in the day and seeing them winning invitationals like this gives me so much joy honestly.
Springville is always tough so finishing ahead of them is not easy. Cedar girls really earned that one.
Canyon View and Desert Hills also showing up strong in the morning session. Southern Utah is loaded this year.
Always love seeing Region 9 hold their own against the bigger programs up north. Three teams in the top six for the boys is really something.
Paul T.Three in the top six is impressive. People up north tend to forget how competitive it gets down here. Hopefully this puts some respect on the region.
We drove up to Orem to watch and the atmosphere was amazing. Every parent on that course was going crazy cheering.
16 schools in that afternoon session is no joke. Winning that against that much competition is huge for Cedar City.
Eliza Johnson is absolutely incredible. Watched her race this summer and knew she was going to do big things this season.
So proud of these Cedar girls! My daughter ran with some of them last year and they work so hard at practice every single day.
