Fall in Love with America250 at SUU's Spring Swing Thing This Valentine's Day! |
Join the SUU Jazz Ensemble One for a Night of Swing Dancing and Live Music |
Southern Utah University's Department of Music, in collaboration with America250, invites the community to the Valentine's Spring Swing Thing on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. in the Rotunda of the Sharwan Smith Student Center.
The evening kicks off with complimentary swing dance lessons led by Toni and James Sage from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., welcoming dancers of all experience levels. At 7:30 p.m., the dance floor opens for a lively night of dancing, accompanied by the SUU Jazz Ensemble One performing classic swing-era favorites.
Admission is free, but donations are warmly welcomed to support the SUU Music Department and its commitment to fostering musical talent and providing exceptional cultural experiences.
This year's event is part of the nationwide celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary, known as America250. Jazz, a genre born in New Orleans, is a quintessential American art form that swept the nation in the 1930s and 40s. Celebrating this heritage through the Spring Swing Thing is a fitting tribute to the nation's rich cultural history.
Whether you're a seasoned dancer or just looking to enjoy live music, the Valentine's Spring Swing Thing promises a memorable evening celebrating love, community, and America's jazz legacy.
