Cedar Reds Triumph Over Juab Wasps, Advance to 3A Championship Against Manti |
Undefeated Cedar High School secures a 23-16 victory in the semifinals, setting the stage for a championship clash with Manti |
The Cedar Reds continued their remarkable undefeated season by edging out the Juab Wasps 23-16 in the 3A football semifinals held at Southern Utah University on November 7, 2025.
In front of a spirited hometown crowd, the Reds faced a formidable Juab team, whom they had narrowly defeated 41-35 earlier in the season. The game commenced with a defensive standoff, culminating in a 30-yard field goal by Cedar's kicker, Cody Stevenson, giving the Reds a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw quarterback Everett Kelling connect with receiver Slade Parsons for a touchdown, extending Cedar's lead to 10-0 by halftime. Kelling's prowess continued in the third quarter with a 15-yard rushing touchdown, pushing the score to 17-0. Another rushing touchdown by Kelling early in the fourth quarter seemed to secure the game for Cedar.
However, Juab mounted a late-game resurgence. Quarterback Price Armstrong led the Wasps with a 1-yard touchdown run, followed by a successful two-point conversion. Running back Brock Richards added another 1-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 23-16. Despite this late push, Cedar's defense held firm, preventing Juab from equalizing and sealing the victory.
With this win, Cedar advances to the 3A state championship game, where they will face the Manti Templars. Manti earned their spot by defeating Morgan 42-28 in their semifinal matchup. The championship game is scheduled for November 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Zions Bank Stadium.
Fans are eagerly anticipating this showdown between two of the state's top teams, both known for their dynamic offenses and resilient defenses. The upcoming championship promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the 3A football season. |
