Cedar City's 'Shop with a Cop' Event Brings Holiday Cheer to Local Children |
Annual tradition fosters community spirit and joy during the holiday season |
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, approximately 100 children in Cedar City experienced the joy of the annual 'Shop with a Cop' event.
The day commenced at 6 a.m. with a warm breakfast at Canyon View Middle School, where each child was paired with a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or first responder.
Following breakfast, the children and their partners embarked on a festive procession to Walmart, with emergency vehicles' lights and sirens adding to the excitement.
At Walmart, each child received a $200 gift card, a significant increase from previous years, allowing them to select gifts for themselves and their families.
Community support played a crucial role in the event's success, with contributions from local businesses, private donors, and organizations like the Elks Lodge, which provided additional vouchers for new shoes.
Volunteers, including retired officers and community members, assisted in wrapping gifts and ensuring the day ran smoothly.
The event not only provided gifts but also fostered meaningful connections between children and first responders, reinforcing the community's commitment to supporting its youth during the holiday season.
As the children left with their gifts and memories, the 'Shop with a Cop' event once again highlighted the spirit of generosity and unity that defines Cedar City. |
