Cedar City's Best Coffee Shops: Where Community Meets Quality |
Discover five local coffee shops that have become the heartbeat of Cedar City's community |
Cedar City's coffee scene has quietly become one of Southern Utah's hidden gems. From early morning students cramming for exams to retirees catching up over lattes, our local coffee shops have become the heartbeat of community connection. Here are five standout spots that deserve your attention.
Main Street Coffee & Gelato. Located right in the heart of downtown, Main Street Coffee combines Italian-inspired espresso with house-made gelato. Their signature Cedar Mocha—featuring local honey and dark chocolate—has become a local favorite. The spacious seating and free Wi-Fi make it perfect for remote workers or study sessions.
The Daily Grind. This cozy corner shop near SUU campus serves some of the strongest cold brew in town. Students swear by their "Brain Fuel" blend, while locals appreciate the rotating selection of single-origin beans. The exposed brick walls and vintage furniture create an atmosphere that's both hip and welcoming.
Coal Creek Coffee Company. Family-owned and operated, Coal Creek sources beans directly from sustainable farms and roasts them in-house. Their breakfast burritos paired with a pour-over coffee make for the perfect morning start. The outdoor patio offers stunning red rock views that remind you why Cedar City is special.
Grind Coffee House. A newer addition to the scene, Grind has quickly earned its reputation for specialty drinks and friendly baristas who remember your order. Their seasonal menu keeps things fresh, and the community bulletin board makes it a true neighborhood gathering spot.
Cedar Perk Espresso. Don't let the small footprint fool you—this drive-through spot delivers big on quality. Perfect for busy mornings when you need a quick caffeine fix without sacrificing taste. Their loyalty program rewards regular customers with free drinks.
Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or just looking for a great place to meet friends, Cedar City's coffee shops offer something special beyond the cup—they offer community. |

Would have liked to see some mention of hours or prices. Nice writeup but practical info helps when you are trying to decide where to go on a busy morning.
Greg N.This is a fair point. I love a good feature piece but knowing if a place opens before 7am is kind of important when you have somewhere to be.
I moved here two years ago and honestly the coffee scene here surprised me. Did not expect this from a smaller city in southern Utah.
Carla SimmonsBorn and raised here and even I was slow to realize how good it had gotten. What was the first spot you tried when you moved in?
Coal Creek roasting their own beans in house is a big deal and most people walk right past it. Fresh roasted coffee is on another level.
tom_b87Exactly this. Most people have no idea how much fresher it tastes when the beans were roasted days ago instead of months. Coal Creek is doing it the right way.
Glad to see local spots getting attention instead of just the chain places. Cedar City has really grown into its own little coffee culture.
Rhonda P.Totally agree. A few years ago the options were pretty limited. Nice to see it actually becoming a thing here without needing a Starbucks on every corner.
As a SUU student the Brain Fuel cold brew at Daily Grind is basically a food group for me at this point. Finals would not survive without it.
Dave HolbrookHa same honestly. I think I've kept that place in business during midterms alone. The cold brew hits different at 7am before an 8 o'clock class.
Surprised Grind is already getting this kind of buzz, it just opened not that long ago. Must be doing something right.
britt_kI heard the owner came from a pretty well known shop in Salt Lake so they knew what they were doing before they even opened. That probably helped them hit the ground running.
Main Street Coffee has been around forever and it deserves all the recognition. That Cedar Mocha is something else.
Mike T.The Cedar Mocha got me through a rough patch last winter. Something about that honey and dark chocolate combo just works. Glad it finally made a list.
Cedar Perk is underrated honestly. I was skeptical about a drive through spot but the quality really is there. Great loyalty program too.
Susan AlbrightRight? I almost skipped it because I assumed drive throughs cut corners. Went once and now it's part of my morning routine. The loyalty rewards add up faster than you'd think too.
How does The Daily Grind and Grind Coffee House both make this list? Kind of confusing having two places with almost the same name lol
Coal Creek is my go to every single morning. Those breakfast burritos are no joke and the patio view is worth every penny.
