Cedar Breaks National Monument to reopen scenic highway for summer season

State Route 148, the main road through Cedar Breaks National Monument, will open

State Route 148, the primary thoroughfare traversing Cedar Breaks National Monument, is set to reopen to vehicular traffic on Friday, May 15, 2026.

This annual reopening marks the commencement of the summer season, granting visitors access to the monument's breathtaking high-elevation vistas and unique geological formations.

However, early-season conditions can be unpredictable.

Trails may still be partially covered with snow, and certain areas could remain inaccessible as the snow continues to melt.

Visitors are advised to check current conditions before planning their trip.

In the coming weeks, Cedar Breaks National Monument will transition to full summer operations.

The Visitor Center, Zion Forever Project Park Store, and Human History Museum are scheduled to reopen on May 22, 2026, operating daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ranger-led programs are set to begin on June 1, and the Cedar Breaks Campground is slated to open on June 19.

For the most up-to-date information, visitors should consult the monument's official website https://www.nps.gov/cebr/index.htm

As the summer season approaches, both Cedar Breaks National Monument and Cedar City are preparing to welcome visitors, offering a blend of natural beauty and distinctive local attractions.
