Canyon View's Swimming Teams Triumph at Region 12 Championships

Falcons' Boys and Girls Teams Secure Regional Titles, Setting Sights on State

Canyon View High School's swimming teams have once again demonstrated their dominance in the pool, clinching both the boys' and girls' titles at the Region 12 Championships held at the Cedar Aquatics Center.

The girls' team amassed an impressive 559 points, outpacing their closest competitor, Emery High School, which scored 340 points. Key performances included Avah Kling of Richfield, who won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.81, and Gracie Taylor of Canyon View, who secured second place in the same event at 2:07.00. In the 50 freestyle, Soleil Grimshaw led the pack with a swift 25.59 seconds, followed by teammate Tallula Rigtrup at 27.05 seconds.

On the boys' side, the Falcons showcased their prowess with standout performances. Kurt Morgan set a new 3A-best time in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 46.05 seconds, improving upon his previous record of 46.28. Additionally, Sean Cannon enhanced his 200 individual medley time to 2:03.69, demonstrating the team's depth and commitment to excellence.

These victories are part of a broader trend of athletic success for Canyon View High School. The school's commitment to fostering a strong sports culture is evident in their recent achievements across various disciplines.

As the Falcons prepare for the upcoming state tournament at Brigham Young University on February 7 and 8, the community eagerly anticipates further triumphs. The dedication and hard work of these student-athletes continue to bring pride to Cedar City and the surrounding areas.

For those interested in supporting the team, the state championships promise to be an exciting showcase of talent and determination. Let's rally behind our Falcons as they aim for state glory.
