The Canyon View Talons have once again demonstrated their exceptional talent by securing their fifth consecutive 3A state championship in drill team competition.
This remarkable achievement was celebrated at the recent state finals held at Utah Valley University in Orem.
On January 30, 2026, the Talons delivered outstanding performances, clinching first place in both the Military and Dance categories.
Their precision and artistry set them apart, solidifying their position at the top of the competition.
Coach Nicole Mikkelson praised the team's unwavering commitment, stating, "What makes this Canyon View team special is their determination, consistency, and love for each other."
Under her guidance, the team has achieved all five titles, underscoring her pivotal role in their sustained success.
The 3A drill team state finals showcased intense competition across various categories.
The top teams in each category were as follows:
Military:

The Talons' Military routine, set to the motivational song "Built for This" by Vo Williams, was particularly noted for its excellence.
This victory not only adds to Canyon View's impressive record but also ties them for seventh in the state's history of consecutive championships.
They now share this position with Manti, which secured five consecutive titles from 2002 to 2006.
However, Duchesne remains the record holder with 15 consecutive championships from 2004 to 2018.
Beyond their drill team success, Canyon View High School has been a hub of athletic excellence.
In 2025, the school's baseball team clinched its first-ever state championship, defeating Juab 7-4 in the final game.
Additionally, the girls' wrestling team secured back-to-back 3A state titles, narrowly edging out Grantsville by two points in a thrilling competition.
These achievements reflect the school's commitment to fostering a culture of dedication and excellence across various sports disciplines.
