Ben Kjar, renowned for his remarkable wrestling career and unwavering spirit, is set to inspire audiences with the release of his documentary, 'Standout: The Ben Kjar Story', opening in theaters this Friday, January 23, 2026.
Born with Crouzon Syndrome, a rare craniofacial disorder, Kjar faced numerous challenges from an early age. Defying medical expectations and societal prejudices, he pursued his passion for wrestling, ultimately becoming Utah Valley University's first-ever NCAA All-American wrestler in 2011.
The documentary chronicles Kjar's journey, highlighting his battles against adversity and his commitment to spreading messages of kindness and resilience. Through his story, viewers are encouraged to embrace their differences and overcome obstacles.
In anticipation of the film's release, Kjar has been actively engaging with communities. On September 27, 2025, he led a free wrestling clinic at Canyon View High School in Cedar City, Utah, sharing his expertise and life lessons with aspiring athletes. The event coincided with the film's screening at the Red Rock Film Festival, where it received the Audience Choice Award.
Reflecting on the film, Kjar expressed his hope that his story will resonate with audiences, inspiring them to face their own challenges with courage and compassion.
