Utah Anglers Set Five New Fishing Records in 2025

Utah's fishing community celebrated a banner year in 2025, with anglers setting five new state records across various categories.
Catch-and-Release Records:
White Crappie: On January 4, 2025, Jesse Pashia from Delta caught a 13⅜-inch white crappie at Gunnison Bend Reservoir, setting a new state record. Not content, Pashia returned on February 22 and broke his own record with a 14-inch catch at the same location.
Wiper: Adam Cunningham achieved a milestone on May 4, 2025, by landing a 29.5-inch wiper at Huntington North Reservoir, establishing a new catch-and-release record.
Catch-and-Keep Records:
Wiper: On April 20, 2025, William Stafford set a new catch-and-keep record with a 29.5-inch wiper weighing 18 pounds and 1.5 ounces, caught at Otter Creek Reservoir.
Hybrid Sunfish: Chris Anderson from Spanish Fork caught a 12⅝-inch, 1-pound, 1-ounce hybrid sunfish at Sand Hollow Reservoir on June 15, 2025, setting a new state record.
Spearfishing Record:
Arctic Grayling: Garion Rowett achieved a spearfishing record on June 21, 2025, at Fish Lake, capturing a 10.5-inch, 4.16-ounce Arctic grayling.
